1st XI v Kings,We lost 5-1, but a great effort by all, it will take time adjusting to new positions and different people. They were a difficult team to play against for the first game they were rather young and just slightly fitter than us (ahem well maybe a lot fitter then us),although they scored 5 they were all scrappy goals and in the second half it was only 2-1 with a goal from Sue. Poly were a sorry sight after the game, one badly sprained ankle, one sore nose (ball to the nose...ouch).The rest of us wishing we had done more exercise in the summer.
Hope all the injuries are getting better!!
A big thank you to Lisa and Sandra for rushing and playing twice and thanks to Geoff for umpiring. AR (with some comments form Ks)
2nd XI...

On Saturday 20th September GP11 played Burnt Ash 4’s in their first league game of the season. It was decided that as Sarah was playing for the firsts and Tracy was on holiday that we would play 11 on pitch – no goalie eek!
We started strong but Burnt Ash caught us out at the back and managed to score a couple of goals early on. Although GP11 were slightly shaken Alex managed to score 2 in the first half! However, just before half time Burnt Ash managed to score again making it 3-2 at half time.
At half time, we did debate whether to pad up Jakki but as we were already a goal down we decided to keep playing an attacking game which paid off!
The second half was very eventful with Babs managing to score from a deflection off a short corner making it 3 all and then Alex managed to get her stick to Hazels’ powerful shot and getting it past the goal keeper making it a hat trick for Alex!
Despite Jakki’s hard efforts of sweeping the ball out of the D her foot got clipped whilst protecting the goal line which meant a penalty flick against us. Brave Hazel rather than accepting an automatic penalty goal, stepped up to defend the penalty flick which unfortunately was well positioned on her reverse stick side and leveled the scores at 4 all.
With not long to go, we were on the attack again, winning ourselves some short corners which Hazel managed to convert 1 making the final score 5-4 to us!!!!
Joint players of the match go to Jakki and Hazel – well done!
