1st XI...

8th March

Ist Team vs Canterbury. Lost 2-1

Well, what can I say?.... a grand effort by all involved, but being reduced to 10 players, due to a Canterbury player successfully breaking Lynz's wrist (!!! Get well soon) we were forced into a loss.

We had the majority of the game, but yet again, the oppositions obvious level of training meant that we struggled to capitalise.

Another frustrating game. We have so much potential (as evident pre christmas), but are simply being outplayed by the teams who continue to train (a problem the 2nd team will run into next season)

Here's hoping that next season we can attract some more players and actually field two whole squads.

One game to go girls......see you saturday.

15th March - with a happy skip in my step.....we WON!!! 3-0.

We were on the edge of scoring all the way through till about 10 mins to go, and then after a breakthrough, we scored 3!

A nice finish to the season...........

Friendly match 29th March

We started the game against the 07/08 division 4 wining team. They had 11 players on the field as there goalie was late travelling over from an earlier game. The day was very windy and in the 1st half we had the wind behind us. The 1st half saw us defending hard with lots of saves by me but unfortunately a good deflection high into the net from a hit in was the first goal. After a quick break up the right the ball was deflected off their defender’s foot in the D but landed in front of Caroline. This left only Caroline and Sue in front of the open goal for an easy shot but their umpire decided not to play advantage and blew. What a Pain!! After a round 20mins into the 1st half their Goalkeeper turned up and we had the space to start playing giving us a few great chances and an even game. We penetrated their ‘D’ and Martina fired the ball to the corner of the goal to draw us level. Their 2nd goal came after 4/5 saves as their forward seemed to want to play tennis with Sarah. We fought very hard, up and down the pitch. They forced a short corner and again Lisa was out like lighting running one with Sandra on her heals running two. The ball was wacked on Sandra’s feet which took her out of that play and everyone including the opposition stopped as their umpire had consistently blow early in the ‘D’ the whole game. Once we released the whistle had not blown the ball was hit over the line. I was pissed! We continued the game battling over the whole pitch until they won a 16 hit out. We circled the ball ready to intercept but the ball the hit was hard and fast and flew in the air towards Lisa’s head. Sue was 1st on the seen and ran for her 1st aid kit, an ambulance was called and Sue bandaged Lisa’s head. The game was abandoned. Lisa called later that evening to say that she had all the scans etc. and had been stitched up and was on her way home with a takeaway.

Hope you feel well soon
